Dad's Hands

Baby Reed's dad has working-man hands. They reminded me a lot of my dad's. Rough as sandpaper, with little scars here and there showing hard work and dedication. I’ll never forget those hands. I saw in his hands an ideal, they represented a hard-working man who labored to support his family. While working on the Reinhart's pictures I debated on whether or not I should photoshop the scars and nicks. Hands tell a lot about somebody. Where they've been. Who they are. I decided to keep them.

Just as I felt about my dad, I'm sure Reed will one day feel about his. I'm pretty darn proud.

Reason

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on.
Carl Sandburg

Lately there's been an outpour of babies from my friends, relatives, and clients. When I see them for the first time, the given quote seems to ring true. Looking at the newborns so precious, innocent, and cuddly makes my heart warm. It seems for a moment that there are no problems in the world. Recession does not exist. There are no wars to be fought. And everyone has a cozy home. Babies do give us hope and reason, if not just for a second. This cuddly fella, Kaedyn, took me to another world. With his chubby cheeks and adorable little details, he's just another reason for the world to go on. Happily.

Patiently Awaiting Baby Brother

Little Lucy can hardly wait. Her little brother will be here any day now. She talks about how much she is going to love, share and play with him (just as she has her big puppy brothers, Sunny & Sam). She is like a "little mommy," following in her mom's footsteps. Having known her mommy for many years now, I'd say she has some wonderful steps to follow in. Little Lucy, you will make the greatest big sister.
